Unlike Gmail or Outlook , Yahoo prompts users to provide a phone number to sign up for its free email service. However, it is possible to bypass this limitation and create a Yahoo mailbox without a phone number  .

In this guide, we provide two different ways to create a Yahoo email account without using a phone number.

The first method involves signing up for Yahoo using an email address from another service provider . You can sign up for a Yahoo account using your Gmail or Outlook email address.

The second method involves using the TextNow app to get a toll-free number and create a Yahoo account using the TextNow phone number.

NOTE: The second method doesn’t always work, as Yahoo struggles to flag VOIP numbers.

Method 1: Create a Yahoo account with another email address

The easiest and guaranteed way to create Yahoo Mail without using a phone number is to sign up for Yahoo Mail with your Gmail or Outlook email account.

1. Visit Yahoo.com and click on the sign in option in the top right corner.

2. On the next screen, click the Create Account button.

3. On the account creation screen, select the I want to use my current email address option.

4. On the modified sign-up screen, enter your current email address (Gmail, Outlook, etc.), enter whatever password you want to use to log into Yahoo, and click Continue.

Note: Do not use your current email address password, it is best to set different passwords for different email accounts.

5. Once you click Continue, Yahoo will send a verification code to your current email address.

6. Get verification from your current email account > enter the verification code in Yahoo and click Continue.

That’s it, you can now log into Yahoo using your current email address and a different password.

Method 2: Create Yahoo email account with TextNow number

As mentioned above, this method may not work if Yahoo recognizes the TextNow number as a VOIP phone number.

1. Download TextNow App

TextNow is a popular free app available for smartphones and computers.

On Android phones, you can download TextNow from the Google Play Store. On the iPhone, you can download the TexNow application from the App Store.

For a computer, you can download the TextNow app from the Windows Store (Windows PC) and the App Store (MacBook).

2. Open the TextNow app and write down your number

After downloading the app, open the TextNow app and follow the on-screen instructions to set up TextNow.

During setup, TextNow will prompt you to choose a toll-free number. Make sure to write down the TextNow number as you will need it to enter Yahoo.

If you forgot to write down your phone number, click the 3-line icon in the upper left corner to view your phone number.

If you are using a computer (Windows PC or Mac), you can view your TextNow number by navigating to the People tab.

3. Enter TextNow Number in Yahoo

1. Visit Yahoo.com and click on the Sign In option in the upper right corner.

2. On the login screen, click the Create Account button.

3. On the next screen, enter the TextNow Number in the Mobile Phone Number field, fill in the other details, and click Continue.

4. After clicking Continue, Yahoo will send a verification code to the TextNow phone number.

5. Open the TextNow app and open the text message from Yahoo containing the verification code.

6. Enter the verification code in Yahoo and click Next.
